A LAND OF CONTRASTS

Zones:  Atlantic  |  Mountain  |  Atlantic-mediterranean  |  Mediterranean

The Atlantic slope extends through the regions of Vizcaya, Guipuzcoa, the continental Basque Country, the northern valleys of Alava, and Northern Navarre. It is characterized by its coast, lined with beautiful beaches of fine sand and ecologically valuable cliffs. Also renowned is the abundance of mountains and green valleys that complete the varied and attractive scenery.

In winter the average minimum temperature is around 4-5º on the coast, and only slightly lower in the interior of the Cantabrian slope. In summer, the average temperature is around 19º, with an average high temperature of 25º in August.

The average number of days with rainfall ranges between 170-180 days.
