The Orgi Oakwood (Navarre) |
|
The oak wood is comprised of 80 hectares of municipal land and is home to the French white oak trees and more than fifty different species of trees, plants and bushes. Another important feature of this area is the presence of more than 40 different types of birdlife, where we find such examples as the blackbird and the woodpecker, and even the sparrow hawk. At the entrance to this area, we are presented with an information centre that welcomes us with its information boards, next to a picnic area and car park where we can leave our vehicle. By walking along some 2 kilometres of paths we will feel the peace and tranquillity of the oak wood with each step that we take. The freedom of nature has been carefully looked after in Orgi. We are in the middle of a living environment which grows according to its own laws. Here, several paths have been made with some rustic bridges to facilitate the access and there is even a small labyrinth of vegetation which will enchant the younger members of the family. Finally, we must mention that the Orgi oak wood is developing a very interesting programme for those who have any kind of visual disorder. Activities are usually organized where priority is given to other senses other than that of sight: a very different form of feeling nature and a way of helping many to fully enjoy everything there is to offer in the oak wood. |
