EVENTO: Medieval Market of Balmaseda

The history of the medieval market of Balmaseda started in March of 1999, when with the motive of the commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the village, was celebrated. It has been celebrating every single year since that day, and nowadays it has become a tradition in Balmaseda.

Cross road, place of transitions, but the most interesting characteristic is its diversity of cultures. During two days the village of Balmaseda recovers the taste and the environment of the medieval ages, which’s commercial tradition helped to get its jurisdiction.

The market starts with the popular representations and the arrivals of the musician and comics who will inaugurateit.This is going to be the start to two days of celebrations with artisans workshops and the organize actuations. The musician with them instruments and the jugglers will go on in different occasions during the days to animate the market.

The market unrolls in the “San Severino” square, where are situate the artisans and the workshop as the weaver, the ironworker…along the old town of the village are the rest of the artisans. The game artisans are going to go on along the streets acting, while in the “San Juan” square it is going to be a recreation of the antique Balmasedian jewish.

It is an easy way of escaping from the burden of nowadays and meting a new way of tradition, tastes, and color of the antique ages which conserves wonderfully Balmaseda.
