Every year the summer sees the arrival of the prestigious Jazz season in the Basque Country. The Getxo International Jazz Festival is responsible for opening the Basque Festival circuit. From the 30th June to the 4th July, the event will present us with its unmistakable European style, which characterizes the music of the performers. This year’s edition brings together many well-known international artists and, of course, the young bands from the Group Contest and from the section "Tercer Milenio" (Third Millenium), which together make up the interest of the festival for the new generations of musicians.

The next encounter will be in Vitoria-Gasteiz, which will hold the 28th edition of the International Jazz Festival between the 11th and 17th July. It is one of the most renowned festivals in Europe. The combination of concerts given by top artists in the Polideportivo in Mendizorroza and the performances of young or less well-known musicians, in the Teatro Principal, provides an attractive offer, both for the spectators, with their momentary interest, and for the keen Jazz enthusiasts. After the evenings of Jazz, several clubs will provide "Jam Sessions" into the early hours, which last year saw the performances of such great names as Wynton Marsalis or Marcus Miller.

Finally, San Sebastián presents the new edition of “Jazzaldia”, which is to be held between the 23rd and 28th of July. The unrivalled location of the Guipuzcoa capital presents an attractive and varied programme, full of great names: Carlinhos Brown, Spanish Harlem Orchestra with Rubén Blades as a special guest, Rickie Lee Jones, The Manhattan Transfer, Cachao, Steve Winwood, John McLaughlin, Jan Garbarek and Femi Kuti, among others. Without a doubt, a luxury for jazz and music lovers in general.
